Things to do on the West Coast

A few steps and you are walking on one of the most beautiful and pristine beaches on the West Coast.

The bay is very protected and the water is a little warmer than most places on the West Coast, due to the Benguela current not entering the bay.

One of the deciding factors when we built our home here was the fact that the beach was so safe.

This meant that children could safely play and swim while we sat on the veranda, watching and relaxing.

Rocherpan, The Lower Berg River and Langebaan are close by as well as the West Coast National Park.

We are also close to several Nature Reserves. Cape Columbine's famous lighthouse (the first lighthouse usually seen by ships coming from Europe) and Nature Reserve is a must for all nature lovers.

A visit to the Fossil Park where you can discover what the West Coast was like 5 million years ago, is a treat for everyone.

During springtime, the West Coast bursts into colour as wild flowers magically transform the landscape.

There is also a nine hole golf course at Shelly Point, which is about one kilometre down the road.

The Vredenburg, Saldanha and Berg River Golf courses are only a short drive away.
